Mary found a37c. for sale in Punta Gorda. Not ours. 1979 model allegedly completely rebuilt. Maybe the one done by Jose Guidera? We are cruising the keys, but the broker is a personal friend and would not BS me if I ask him a question. Also, we will be back after Memorial Day. What about it Ed? One on Lake Erie, one in SW. Fl?

Some one in the Club is looking after their boat recently sank and is totaled

That's a lot of money for a '79. Only a few of us know it is worth twice that but they are only pulling around $30K. It would have to be perfect.

Boy, from the pictures, that sure looks like Jose's boat. He did a beautiful restoration, so its probably worth at least that...but will he get it?

Hi, all!

If that is Jose Guidera's boat, it's a steal! I can't imagine why he would sell his 37c, he has invested a huge amount of money, time, and superb workmanship into his boat. It's worth 50 grand if it's worth a cent, IMHO.

I believe he sold it last year. Local guy asked to see ours and I told him we were out cruising. Jose posted boat was coming here and I asked to see it. Jose said it was sold. I'm in the keys till late may/ June 1 will find out more later.

Call salesman. He would like nothing better than to talk to a drooler.

Oops...not droolin' now...just noticed the traveler is in the cockpit and that may be a deal killer...

Things I'd like to avoid on next offshore boat - furling mainsail, centerboard, gasoline engine, extra small 'seaworthy' cockpit, unprotected spade rudder, cored hull and traveler in the cockpit...

....but she sure looks nice! OK, droolin' just a little...

The traveller location is a long-standing debate among H37C owners. I have a later version with the traveller on the cabin top. Some pro riggers and even John Cherubini II argue eloquently that the earlier bridge deck traveller location is superior for sail control and security of the rig. And some owners, like Bill, have converted to the cabin-top location - its not a huge project. From an offshore voyaging perspective, the bridge deck location provides the best security for the rig (the boom is better controlled and less likely to break if it hits in a wave). From a live-aboard or cruising perspective, I tend to like it out of the cockpit. Horses for courses...

My traveler is and always will be in the cockpit. The advantages far outweigh the one disadvantage, not being able to have a full enclosure. If you need to have a full enclosure then move the traveler to the cabin roof. There are two ways, expensive and very expensive. The traveler that Bill installed will lift the cabin off of the boat before it breaks.

Garhauer recommend it for mid boom sheeting. It was less than a boat unit ($1000). I also replaced the main sheet tackle with Some Garhauer blocks. Old vang tackle was too tall to inch down boom. Also folks on this forum talked me out of single attachment point on the boom.

Opinion of Offshore in Cherubini 37

Would you sail a Cherubini 37 to Bermuda or cross the Atlantic? Is the hull and ring strong enough.

I would. With new Standing rigging and today's weather forecasts it should be easy.

Yes, its true

Dear friends
I must apologize for my long absence from the forum.

April a year ago, on a whim, I posted my boat on sailboats by owners for sale to see the real value of my boat. I listed it at what I felt was top dollar for the boat and market. I had 37 emails that weekend alone. One person flew from Denver, another from Ny. One drove from Louisville overnight and one from Port Charlotte, FL. That person ordered a survey and left a deposit. Two weeks later, I was loading the boat on a transport truck. Never got to sail the boat. It was a great adventure that I enjoyed very much.
I know the new owner has installed a $1,500 GPS and replaced the CD furler with a new unit ($3,500). He is not hands on sailor and paid top dollar for the installation and set up of the boat. I would guess he has already spent 10k in services and equipment to his liking.
The new owner told me late last year that he had been diagnosed with a medical problem and he would not be able to enjoy his dream boat, therefore he was thinking of listing it. The listed $ is what he paid for the boat. It is a better deal now than before.
By the way, for those who ask about the 37 being a blue water boat. This boat has sailed from Naples, Italy to France and Spain for 10 years. It spent many years in Sardinia at the US submarine base since it was owned by a US sailor.

I want to thank all of you that helped me with all my questions.

Just flew to BWI to look at a 2000 Oceanis 311 that a friend has inherited. Will be sailing it down to MYR this summer. At least I have a boat to sail for the near future.

Cheers

Jose Guidera
