I just got this thing and have been installing it. Power was good and the unit turned on just fine. Hooked up 1 nmea to the autohelm st4000 just fine. Tried to connect the standard horizon gx2150 nmea output to it and now it doesnt turn on.

More specifically I was connecting the gray DSC output from the gx2150 to the brown nmea 0183 port 1 (in). then the gx2150 green nmea ground to the garmin ground (says "power and nmea 0183")

Checked the fuse and its fine. think i just screwed my self out of a boat unit.

Double check your ground connections since the connections you were making involved a ground. Verify that there is 12V power at the connector that attaches to the Garmin. Your issue sounds like a no power issue.

Hi Jarid
I've just bought a 740s. Was it pretty easy to install? I was not thinking it would run autopilot....how did that work out? Vic

super easy to install the basic unit not connected to autopilot or transducer. Not too much more complicated to get ais data from the vhf.

love the plotter though!
