Your not kidding! I'm going to put a few more miles on my Singer...I got mine from www.reliablecorporation.com.
They're not cheap but the price is better than Sailrite by 3 or 4 hundred dollars, all the Sailrite parts and accessories fit it and they ship from Toronto.
As far as the sub goes, it's the Navy. The guys work for the government so they think they can park anywhere.
On a more serious note, have they opened it to the public yet? The last time I saw her, they only allowed us to look from the outside since they were still dry-docking her.
They finally got that sub to Port Burwell - cool. We donated to that project a few years go...Hey Frank ware did you get your sewing machine from? I'm using an old Singer Stylist. It works... I went shopping today for a new outboard for the newest member of the fleet. (Siren 17) I picked up an old Elgin 2 hp that is older than me but looks to be in better shape... You guys can judge that one. I also found a submarine. Someone just left it on the lawn in Port Burwell...
Can you post pics of your strut mod? I'm curious how you mounted them - have seen several different methods. I bought a pair of struts last fall and have not installed the yet. Last summer the poptop fell and gave my wife a concussion - not good.So today I added the strut mod to the pop up on the Mac. Works great and the parts cost was under $50. Much cheaper than the hernia operation I was going to have to get if I kept trying to lift that sucker. I also cut some of the bolts on the inside to get the roof ready for either enclosure or painting and coated some new hatch and dropboard rails in epoxy. Hopefully, I'll have those on by Wednesday night. Since winter has finally decided to take a hike until later this year, I was also able to pump out the 8" of water in the bilge (includes the 4-5" covering the floor). Sometime during this past winter, the hatch moved open about 4" and all that lovely snow we were getting piled up inside and turned into a skating rink. It finally melted enough today to pump most of it out. I also put a bar and hasp on the top dropboard and main hatch today so this doesn't happen again. One thing I am totally sure of is that the hull doesn't leak a drop . Hindsight has also shown me that saving a few bucks by not covering it for the winter is false economy. I have a Reliable sewing machine (Sailrite knockoff) and plan to make a cover for her for this winter. Maybe if Sumner will let me, I'll hit Ruth up for some pointers. Anyhow, that's how I spent the first dry, plus temperature weekend this year. Frank
I saw the snowflakes and I thought to myself, "Ahh, summer in Canada."A good memory anniversary.. I used to rent a slip at a Denver res (Cherry Creek) for the month of April only and it was on the way home from work so I would often stop by and finish the work day on the boat. I would also make sure to spend the full moon of that month on the boat. And.. hanging out at a marina is just a good thing to do. I had put up these pictures five years ago and forgot they were there.. I think I did this for about three years in a row. Hopefully this views as a slide show

"...in the fwd captain's cabin...?with the warm weather and an evening free, i hauled some work lights out to the boat and started on this spring's projects. built a little bracket and installed my main pos and neg terminals; cut out the fiberglass panel where i will install my switch/fuse panels, battery meter, ammeter, bilge pump switch, and one of the interior speakers for the stereo; installed one LED light in the fwd captain's cabin and taped up another to check how the lights would fill the space - turns out i got 4 "white" and 1 "warm white" fixtures. the warm white is much more pleasing and cozy... ill order some more of them and see where i can use these other bluish white lights; and i installed a large display atomic clock in the galley - right above the sink so i can see the time from the cockpit.

We either have different boats or different wives.
