Spring cleaning

After all the years I have in boating you would think I know what to use when cleaning my deck - but maybe it is all the years that keep me coming back to soap. Are there any 'new" products that one would recommend for cleaning the decks on my Oceanis 40? The guys that put the winter cover on in the fall left a mess with there work shoes and overall dirt. I prefer a non abrasive that would go easy on the gel coat. Simple question............./

Thanks, Pete

Based on Practical Sailor testing of boat soaps (Jan.2013) I switched to Star Brite Citrus Boat Wash & Wax and have seen good results. In fact the deck appears to become cleaner after a few hours in the sun, like the stuff is still working.

My yard shipwright did caution me not to use any orange cleaners on my port and hatch lenses - causes crazing he says. I have also learned that a well rinsed deck grows no moss, so make sure your rinse well. I am also experimenting with vinegar sprayed on my non-skid to kill mildew - we live in a humid climate.
