I'm in the market as were . Colonial Beach
In May of this year I will have been on this site for 10 years.

During that time I have been through two boats. A Hunter 22 and a Catalina 30. The Catalina 30 is still for sale but, don't worry, I am not getting out of sailing. Hopefully I will be out cruising sometime soon in a smaller sailboat. I am not super happy about downsizing, but at least I will still be sailing and my budget will be easier to deal with.

None the less, I have met a lot of great people through this forum and through this sport. I am hoping that we can continue to get new people coming here and maybe some younger people.

The Admin of this site do an excellent job. There is a steady flow of knowledge on here and a ton of experience. Everyone is always willing to help a fellow sailor (something that I have witnessed so much in the real world as well). There is hardly any bashing on here as well which is refreshing.

I guess that sailors are a different breed. If more people sailed, it would be a better world!

Well, B-Obsession, you made me take a look at my arrival date. Almost the same as yours, and I note that my experiences on this board have been very similar to yours.

I agree, sailors are a different breed and I am glad to be one.

I, too, have been around the Forum for a good while. I've learned a tremendous amount over the years from everyone, and enjoy seeing the posts of people who have become like old friends, even if we've never actually met. Thanks for all of the friendship, knowledge, and fellowship !

BTW, Bad, a group of us from Little Creek ( BBSA) will, hopefully, be cruising the lower Potomac ( up to St Clements Is) the last week of June. If you can get out, we'd love to say hi.

That would be nice. End of June is a bad time where I work as we will be very busy.

If you head that way you should go back into Bretton Bay. You can go back to the last marker and dingy into the town of Leonard Town, MD. There is a great Mexican restaurant there (Java Jim will second this thought) and it is a cool little place. Bretton Bay is right beside St. Clements Bay (St. Clements Island area). If you go into St. Clements Bay turn into Canoe Neck Creek. Watch your charts because the entrance is not marked. Once inside first cove to the left is a great anchorage (had about 20 boats rafted up there at one time).

This is a good time to recall Roger Long's saying, "Actually I like power boats, but I bought a sailboat so I could hang out with a better class of people".

Been here so long that I remember when Phil still had his Hunter and for some of the reasons this site got started. Now "How old is dirt"?

Well, Phil and Dave and all of our members have help move me from being a sedentary cripple to a capable old sailor who is restoring my 1979 H 30 C and helping the local Sea Scout ship. The Admiral is amazed at the transformation.
So thanks for being so helpful and supportive.

Many thanks to all of you who contribute to this site. My wife and I have owned boats all of our lives but only this month bought our first sailboat. This is a place where we can ask a novice question or reseach a solution for a tough problem and receive the best of advice. The way that all of you help us and promote sailing is amazing.
