Anyone added perch seats to an Oday 25? I have been thinking about adding some, but I don't think I could handle the tiller very well from that area. I KNOW... Maybe I should add wheel steering first!

Even on wheel steered boats the perch seats aren't very good for steering from, unless you have an ap remote or one of those new wheel steering extenders (like a tiller extender but tied onto a wheel spoke - invented, IIRC, by a repsondent here and sold to Davis or Forespar - a neat idea).

The main advantage is a great seat for crew. I use ours primarily when sailing downwind or motoring home.

May be hard to do with only a single pushpit rail, although IIRC there was a thread here within the past six months about doing that.

Difficult?

Here's my 9 year old grandson steering the boat from the stern rail seat. He held 270 degrees for 10 1/2 miles. We did heel about 20 degrees a few times, but he didn't seem to mind.

Cool... I think I will pursue the mod. Thanks!
