Hunter 23.5 Indian Lake
Today we closed on our new to us 1994 23.5 . The boat has been sitting a few years and needs some tlc . The interior looks great . We had looked at the boat before in a snow storm and did not spend the time I would have liked . Then things took a life of their own and I bought the boat without a good long second look . Overall things look better than I expected , still need to do some tihings . I think the roller furler is a cdi flexible furler / The decal on the stainless drum is shot . All of the lines on the furler look to me as if they could be replaced . Need a jib and some pin boards . I bought pin boards for our other hunter here but could not find boards for this boat here . Does anyone make these boards . Do I go to cdi for the lines ? Hard or easy to replace ? Thanks as usual Mike

The internal halyard on the cdi units are special, I would contact them for that one. The furling line can be any good low stretch cord. Congrats on the purchase! Our previous boat was a 240 and we loved it!

Congrats. Carefully inspect the forestay at the top of the furler. Specifically, by the swaged fitting on the top. The cable to fitting connection may be hidden by the top of the furler. If you see any fraying, replace the forestay. Mine (on my previous 23.5) snapped when sailing. It was exciting, to say the least.

I was looking at that fitting the other day . It looked fine where the t fitting is swagged on the forestay . I had read that there has to be a toggle at each end of the furler and I was looking for that . All I could see was the fitting where the forestay goes into the mast . Not exactly sure what the toggle is supposed to look like , I was hoping I would recoginze it when I saw it . I looked at schaffer site and there are all kings of toggles .I have never owned a boat with anything other than a hanked on jib so the furler is new to me . I can't see what holds it up there . When the weather gets out of the teens here in Ohio I will have more time to check it out Thank You for the input , Mike
