What kind of haul out lift for your Hunter

We have a 1993 40.5 and have used travel lifts and cranes when our boat was hauled out in the past. Has anyone used the railroad elevator type lift that some boat yards have for a 40.5?

Marina Shipyard (my local marina in Alamitos Bay Long Beach, CA) has the railroad type lift, but won't do Hunter's due to their large sump/bilge. But I am looking at South Coast Shipyard in Newport Beach that does a lot of Hunter's and they have the railroad lift system.

Any opinions?

Yes, I used the yard over by the Henry Ford bridge in Wilmington with a railway. No drama. Just had to wait for the tide to give clearance. Also used it before in my 32 Vision. I think I heard Marina Shipyard got in a legal dispute some decades ago concerning damage and thus the Hunter ban. A properly supported boat will be just fine. It was actually supported better than when in a travel lift IMHO.

I had a bad experience with this approach at a NE boatyard. No damage but could have been some. One thing that will help is photos of your boat out of the water so they van relate the keel to features above the waterline to place the keel supports.

Railroad slipway

Our marina has a railroad slipway which we have used for our
H39 without any issues.
