Hello folks,

Well, we're closing on a 1983 Cat 30 tomorrow (assuming tomorrows survey goes as expected).

First of many questions, what size tarp do you cover your Cat 30 with? I've seen some 40'x 20' for sale. Big enough?

I'm having the mast un-stepped this first winter for inspection as well as some upgrades (spreader lights, wind instrument).

Thanks,

Chris

Thanks mortyd, I don't really know anyone in the area yet. I've seen the Kappa Sails building. Leaving the boat uncovered is certainly an option. We never covered our previous boat, an O'Day 272.

i have no idea if she was covered before i bought her - 2000 - but i shrink wrapped her the first two years and the the wrapper went out of business so i took a chance and saved some money. since then, i have saved a lot of money. i don't think new england fresh water hurts a catalina 30 at all. what i miss from westbrook are the competent people at pilot point, how helpful clark at kappa was, and, most of all, bill's seafood and the draft heineken.

It's a long drive for us, living in Somerset County NJ, but we really like the area and the people. Everyone we've met has been great. The folks at Pilot Point have been beyond helpful and accommodating.

Back to covering, I going to be doing some work in the cockpit so a small trap just to cover that area should work out just fine.

Good to know about Clark, I need to have the sails looked at and serviced.
