Not quite sure how one would go about suing a disclaimer such as this?

"The warranty is a Manufacturer’s Return-To-Base-Warranty, not an effectiveness guarantee, if the Ultra system should fail due to a manufacturer’s defect within the specified warranty period the system should be delivered prepaid to Ultrasonic Antifouling Ltd at the following address

That's not a disclaimer It's a returns policy. By now at least 10 years on since these products were first on the market if they had no effect at all no one would buy them, other companies wouldn't start developing there own versions and at least one person or company would have sued regardless of the disclaimer. You can't sell an aircraft and then say just send it back if it doesn't fly oh, and bye the way you can't sue us because we said if it doesn't fly send it back. You can sue a company if what they are selling is not fit for the purpose it was designed and sold to you for or in other words if it doesn't work. To date to the best of my knowledge nobody has. I would be very interested to hear about it if I'm wrong. Oh and fstbttms name one, what ever you say someone will say it works just fine and that's why they bought it.

Kinda like the stickers they put on the back of dumptrucks that say, 'Not responsible for broken windshields', or some such crap as that, thinking the driver will think, 'Well, he's got the sign on the back, so liability is out of the question'.

That's the same logic as putting a sign in the front yard that states, 'Not responsible if I get mad and start shooting at the neighbors'.

Hey, you've covered your bases. I've got the sign, sticker, warning, whatever.

And can do as I please unscathed..

I have seen various forms of this idea on the market since the seventies. If they worked even a tiny bit, every boat out there would have one installed.
Save your money for a haul out and bottom paint.

Caravelle: I am just a dumb ol' Industrial Engineer/Electronic Engineer and I have said my opinion on this subject. Oh, I also have another degree in business, so sure do not understand anything about where you are coming from on this buying concept! Don't ignore "justsomeguys" comment regarding a sucker born every minute. Just who is dumb enough to buy this stuff? This forum hopefully helps our people from buying such things.

I would think, just guessing you understand, that if these things gave a boat any modicum of success in keeping a bottom more or less 'maintenance free', the big dollar boat manufacturers would install them as a matter of course. Or at least be on their option list. Now I promise you I have zero idea of what is standard, recommended, or simply left to the purchaser during fit out of Hinckleys, Bavaria's, Oysters, or a myriad of others; but I'd be willing to bet the builders don't hard sell these things. I'm reasonably certain that they would love to see their wonderful creations being launched with pristine gell coated hulls, as opposed to putting on an awful bottom paint. Truth is, hell I would buy one if it worked. I can snatch my boat out of the creek in twenty minutes most days, spray it off in about the same, throw a couple hundred bucks or whatever for the paint; but damn! It's a nuisance at best. So why bother if this miracle thing worked as stated. And I'm sorry, but if Practical Sailor shot it down, that is really all I need to know. I got a sneaky feeling that by now these guys are starting to know their way around a boat a little..

I have removed a few of these systems over the last few years because they failed to do SQUAT.... Remember snake oil salesmen always go to markets where proving efficacy is the most complicated. Battery "desulphators" is another one of these areas......
