Manual windlass

Hi All...Just new to the Forum. Glad to be part of this valuable information source. I'm considering installing a manually operated windlass on my just purchased 2000 Hunter 290. Has anyone had any experience with this installation?

I have Manual Windlass on my Beneteau Oceanis 350. Works well, albeit slow , but much easier than pulling the anchor.

Hi I have just seen your question regarding a manual windlass .I have a 295 which i think is almost identically to the 290 . I fitted a Simpson Lawrence manual but I am afraid they are no longer made . There is a company here in the UK that still make a manual. They are called Lofram. I think they are part of Lewmar.
The big problem with the boat is the lack of depth in the anchor locker

I have an H31 and would like to retrofit it to go to chain instead of rope. I was wondering where the options were for windlass placement, etc. Anyone have any comments on this conversion?
