I have been reading and have found there was a rudder recall on early H34's. I would like to know if my rudder has been updated. If someone knows what size the newer rudder should be that would be very helpful.

What year is your boat and hull #? The early '83's were fitted with the H31's rudder, which was the subject of the recalll. The H34's built after '83 have the larger rudder.

The boat is an 83 the hull number is 34268m83. I'm not sure where that would fall in the production run for that year. If you know I would be interested in finding out. Thanks
Here a pix of my 84 being launched where you have a good view of the rudder. Knowing the bottom is 16" you can scale and get an idea of the full size, then measure yours and compare. I assume it is on the hard. Mine being an 84, it is the larger rudder.

Attached is a pix of my rudder on my '83 H34, hull #113. This is the original rudder as far as I know (being 5th owner). Note the difference in the aft end taper compared to Claude A's.
Also, earliest '83's had Westebeke engines. Mine's a Yanmar.
