Time to replace the standing rigging

Its that time and the fact that I will be pulling the mast this winter will make it easier to do. Can anyone give me an idea of cost to redo my old B&R rig including the headstay and backstay. I've got a few feelers out to local riggers but would like to hear what others have had to pay. Thanks

make sure you get a quote from SECO South in largo fl....i think you will be pleased......the folks down there are great and prices are very good.....

For my 31 Seco South wanted something like $2200 and that didn't even include the turn buckles!

Interesting. My friend got all new rigging (stays) for his 376 (3 years ago) for about $1700. Maybe the cost of stainless has increased substantially over the past couple of years.

They were using material from South Korea at the time.

my rigging for my 30 ft s2 included 2 upper stays...fore and aft stays...4 lower stays ..and 7 new turnbuckel bodies...he said my toggles and straps we in good shape.. total cost $708.00 shipping was $30 dollars...to covington ga.... and he did a forensic evaluation on my old rigging to determine if there were needs to adjust the length in any way ...super nice people...and he said if he missed the mark on any thing to let him know and he would make it correct...cant beat that in my book...

I just bought complete standing rigging for a Hunter 356 less the turnbuckles from Seco South and the cost was about $1250. The service was fast, great job using a rotary swager. I sent in my old rigging and they made the new ones to match.
The prices I got from other shops in Canada and the USA were from $3200 to $3400 for the same thing.
Seco used to supply all the rigging to Hunter, now Selden supply the rigging and mast as a package so Seco is looking for work and know how to do it.

You might want to get a quote from Island Nautical JSI in St. Pete. They are replacing the rigging on my Pearson 33-2 for a little over $1600. The quote from a local rigger was close to $3000.

Have you considered doing it yourself? At least on the West Coast you have a couple of options to cut your cost down. One is driving across the border to drop off and pickup your rigging. The other is Vancouver is big enough to find someone that does swageing and can supply the cable you need.

Do it yourself

When I first purchased my Hunter 37C years ago it still had the original rigging. So I decided not only to replace but to upsize of course. I planned on doing it all myself while the mass was down in a yard. Either the right amount of stainless wire rope and I also ordered quick attach fitting which do not require a swaging machine. After the mass was down was quite simple to take each leg and match it with a quick attach and a custom cut piece of stainless wire rope. One trick I learned was to build the jig for cutting the stainless wire rope. Take a 2 x 4 any length and looking at the end cut is a circular saw and get down the middle of the 4 inch edge than take a drill of the correct size for your stainless wire rope and drill through the slot you just made in the 2 x 4. Now you have a whole that you can push the stainless wire rope through in the slot that you can use a hack saw to cut the stainless wire rope with. By doing this the wire rope does not unlay. And since the quick attach fittings do not require the stainless wire rope to be unlayed you will have a very strong set of riggings. Thinking back the only change I would make now is if I was working in the yard that had swaging capabilities I would use normal swages at the top end of the of the stainless wire rope and quick attach at the bottom.

Sorry I don't have any more knowledge on these swages. I was looking into them for my self. I see that they are distributed exclusively by Hayn Marine in the USA. If you get a price list could you pass it on?
