I Guys. Need to replace the single lever engine control on my 1997 legend 336. Any information on what I need to remove in order to access the back of the lever would be appreciated.

If yours is anything like my 326, its pretty easy. 4 screws behind and 1 on top. Leave the other one on top as pivot to swinging housing out for work.
Otherwise post photos.

Yeah thanks for that Ken. Looking at mine the top of the pedestal is held on by 4 screws on either side forward of the steering compass. And 6 screws adjacent to the engine control panel.

Hi ,
Yeah the original Morse one has got very worn and floppy so I'm replacing it with a new Teleflex lever which I got from EBay . I have replaced these levers before on other boats but always had easy access to the back of the lever. The lever on the Hunter is not so accessible and needs the steering pedestal top removing. I asked Hunter and they agreed the top had to be removed but had no instructions as to how to do it !!! .
I'm hoping that someone has done this job and can give me a bit of info on the removal

Regards

Mike

Re: Fitting a new single lever engine control on a legend 33

I've just removed the mounting screws on the engine control level on our H336 and pulled it off the pedestal. There was enough slack in the throttle and transmission cables to let me get it off to lube and service the backside. I can't see why I couldn't have disconnected the cables and hooked up a new one if I'd wanted to. You might want to give it a go before attempting to take off the top of the pedestal.
