Centerboard

I've got a 1984 O'Day 23.
The connection between the centerboard pull up rope and the centerboard has broken. I would like to replace the rope and connection. Does any one know if there is a special connection connecting the rope to the centerboard? If so, where can I buy it?

Sangold, it will be a SS tapered shackle to probably 5/16" double braid polyester line spliced onto the shackle.

My 192 had a stamped metal Schaefer shackle, looked like a big dinghy halyard shackle. The new one from D&R had a very nice, polished, forged shackle, that was barely long enough to fit the hole on the CB. I think it's better that way, less movement in the shackle, probably less likely to nick up the sides of the CB trunk when you pull it up.

Hopefully you won't have too much trouble getting the new line in there. I taped my new one to the old one, and pulled it right up through. In your case, you might have to weight a very small messenger line and drop down from above…

I bought a pendant with a special, skinny shackle from Rudy at D&R. On my 23, it's a straight shot from the topside of the tube to the centerboard trunk. No sheave or bends; you could use a fish tape to feed through a messenger.
