I am considering one of these since I just got lucky with an accidental gybe. Has anyone rigged one up on their 310 and have pictures?

I have one on my 309. It works as advertised. You have to use the special line they supply with it in order to get the right amount of friction, but it only lasts a season or two before it gets too stiff and has to be replaced. I can get about 3 pieces from the length they supply in the kit; I also found a supplier that sells just the replacement line, though it's expensive (around a hundred bucks). I'll look for a picture of how I have it rigged.

they work great...
on smaller boats, you can get the same effect by using a figure eight rappelling ring... this is what i use and it works on the same principle and without the cost... by tighting the line, you can "lock" the boom in place, or adjust the line so the device will act as a brake and let the boom swing over easy and slow, rather than slam across.... it also works upwind in the same manner. no more worries about how fast and hard the boom is going to come across...

or you can slack the line completely and the boom will function like the device is not there at all... its nice to have options.

I tend to be a bit visually challenged in conceptualizing some thing. Not sure what is up with PaulJ (he is starting to slack off a bit) but here goes.
