I had a Marina mount the hardware to run my main halyard to the cockpit on a Hunter 23. I gave them the pictures from this site, but of course they did not follow them. They mounted the turning block a couple inches forward of the mast instead of even or behind. The consequences of that is that I need to still go to the mast and winch the sail the rest of the way up. It was suggested to take the winch off the mast. I can get it off and not leave holes in the mast but the mount will remain but I do not need it. My question is what is the best way to mount the winch back on the cockpit? Also, I have a compass mounted in the fiberglass through the cabin wall. It is shot and needs to be replaced. Anyone have any idea of where I can get a cheap compass or a good used one. If I spend any more money on this boat this year my wife is going to sink it with me in it. I paid one bill for $3,000 to get a bunch of repairs done. Not one was major but they all totaled up to big bucks. New rub rail mounting material all the way around gets very expensive for starters.
