I have been searching this whole site repeatedly, and KNOW I have seen it someplace:

Source of hull liner material for an Oday 25- the vinyl / plastic type, not the cloth.

Can't find it anywhere.....

Hull liner replacement

I just completely tore out the entire hull liner of my O'Day 28, scraped the foam off down to the fiberglass, and replaced it with foam backed vinyl I purchased online from DEFENDER. It was a very arduous task and took many hours, but I am delighted with the results.

Some don't bother...

I know many, many people who prefer to tear it out and paint.
Personally, I like the quiet coziness of my carpet-like headliner, even if it is a bit stained from old leaks from previous owners... :D

My buddy is staring down this task on his Beneteau First 235. I told him about the article in one of the sailing mags a few months ago (might have been Sail) where they made a funny "self help"-like article where they say stuff like "You may be tempted to use spray adhesive to postpone the inevitable. It will not work for long."

I told my buddy he's just going to have to tear it out, and live with the hell of trying to clean off deteriorated foam and old adhesive.

Sometimes I wonder why they use foam backed vinyl, when they know that the foam is going to fall apart eventually. Well, I guess it looks nice at first, and lures people into the cabin, and is easy(er) to do at the factory, and they know it will fail LOOOOOOONG after the warranty expires, so why not?

I hated the carpet on the hull of our 272 and have done everything including shampooing it.....BUT...it does cut down on condensation during humid / rainy periods when some boats with fiberglass liners just drip drip, drip. Now I've found the perfect product to keep the carpet free from stains...it's made by "scrubbing bubbles" and it does have bleach in it, but if sprayed on and lightly brushed immediately, it removes all
stains from drips under / at stantions, etc....It really works....i also bought a little maybe 1-1/2 inch round brush w/handle to brush it, then wipe it with a clean rag after brushing and low and behold...all the stains are gone.....all from the local Kroger/Dillons. I also
never liked the lack of a trim piece where the bulkhead carpet became the deck so I had my trusty upholstery folks make me a 1-1/2 inch wide leather wrapped custom moulding that follows its way around the main saloon including the quarter berth.....It's done in solid jockey red solid with little folds all around and stapled on the back of the trim piece prior to the velcro. Looks really cool. I did this the first year we bought the
boat in 1987....Under the leather is a the 1-1/2 inch piece of foam core board.
I know, sounds crazy. pat

Pat, yer killing me! Can you post a pic of the packaging of this wonder Scrubbing Bubbles carpet product? I found that the automotive carpet cleaner doesn't touch any stains in my carpet liner, and I'd like to improve the appearance somewhat...
