The original hatch cover on my Hunter 18.5 is very thin and brittle. I would like to replace it and figure I could copy the two pieces and cut them out myself. But does anyone have a recommendation for a better material to use? I don't know where I would find a similar teak plywood material.

If your boat is white, why not use some AZEEK board. I did this, inserted a port window. It comes in lumber widths. You will need to route or taper the edges to pit into the channel. Very strong and very lite.
