Hello everyone.

In my 1976 C-30 I have a very old, corroded, aluminum fuel tank filled with gas that must have been sitting there for the last 5 years. As I am working on getting the boat ready for sailing I have this question about the fuel tank:

1) Has anyone found a moeller model number that fits this boat? If not moeller than maybe some other brand that makes plastic tanks?
2) Has anyone placed a replacement gas tank in the stern locker?

p.s. I know about tanks sold on catalinadirect.

I bought the tank from Catalina Direct. The price was fair...I thought and I just put it where the old tank was. Why put it on the port side like that?

I suppose if you had the battery bank on the STBD side it might balance it out, but wouldn't having it so close to the port side like this amplify any sloshing and heeling and cause you to run the risk of sucking air if the seas were rough?

Just a thought.

I was just going to use a 10 gallon or so and put it in the stern locker not port.

The tanks Catalinadirect sells is trapezoid and has screw mounts. The tank i have now in fiberglassed in and looks like a rectangular.

I placed wooden blocks on the hull using 5200. Once that set, I screwed the tank to the wooden blocks. I inspect it once every few months to be sure the blocks are holding and everything is good.

I suppose I could also fiberglass the blocks to the hull first before screwing the that down. My boat doesn't have a deep stbd locker, just the port one.

I suppose a 10 gallon tank would be good too!
