Stern lid replacement (PIC)

On a late 70's Catalina 27, what is this lid at the stern called? You can see in picture below, between the tiller and rail. I want to cost a replacement.

Could it be a cockpit seat? There is storage underneath. The rim of that lid is brittle and cracking. I am trying to assess cost of replacement or DIY fix if possible to make it as good as new.

Haven't forgotten you, I will be back from Vacation on Aug 5. I still need to pull the teak lining and cabinets, stanchion etc for Luger. I still have your measurements.

That lid is notoriously flimsy. I intend to take mine off, rough it up and see about bonding a chunk of Birch plywood under it to help beef it up. Then I will lay some fiberglass matt over that and seal it in. I will also probably lay in a few layers of glass to thicken up the already too thin hinge area...

Mine seems pretty solid. Chantilly Lady was made in 1984. Post oil crisis?
