Help: Removing the inside companion way teak handhold board

Looking for advice or a "how to" on removing the port side teak hand hold board.

I have a loose port outside crib board frame piece.

I wanted to secure it, I see that it should be tightened from underneath the inside piece.

I removed all 4 screws from the inside and yet the damn thing will not pull free from the wall. I've tried prying it off with a flat blade, nothing. It seems to be stuck where the actual handle is.

There are no obvious screws from the outside holding it on.

Has anyone had this off that can lend some assistance before I end up breaking it?

Thanks

You're on the right track but instead of prying off yoou need to use a flat blade like a putty knife to cut the adhesive and hope that it is not 5200.

This and a lot of persistence is what I used:

Thanks for the info. I'll have to run out and get one of those. Hopefully the frustration level will not be so bad!

Since I'm half dim witted, I never noticed the teak bungs covering the screws that were screwed through the handle straight into the fiberglass.

Of course I didn't find this out until I half ruined the wood.

So just wanted to let everyone know about those screws before anyone else ruined their wood.

Are there replacements that can be purchased for the companionway framing? Otherwise I'll have to do my best to glue, sand, and stain the broken pieces.

If you can get teak boards they are not difficult to make.
