Need new Autopilot suggestions...

Hi all,

I'm hoping to get some suggestions on which autohelm system I should buy to replace my old, decrepit autohelm 4000? Too many parts need replacing and it's become "senile".

Like most boat owners, my budget is somewhat limited and I really can't afford more than about $1,000.00, but I want the best one I can buy for my Cat30.

I also have a Garmin Chartplotter/Sonar and it would be great if I could somehow interface the two.......(my pipe dream, I guess).

Any experiences to share?

...last fall I bought a factory refurbished Raymarine X5 for $850 from defender. Comes with a full warranty. Easy install on my C30, works perfectly.
