I have a Selden main with in mast furling. The mast as a aux sail track on the port side of the opening but it's only 6mm. I'd like to rig a small emergency sail should the main ever fail and I'd like to use the mast mate steps. The issue is I can not find a source for 6mm sail slugs.

Looking for a source or a work-a-round.

Thank you for the assit

Sail slugs that size do not exist

What is supposed to go in that slot is 6mm luff tape. So, you need to have a sail made up with luff tape to run up that slot.

I recently helped a sailmaker and rigger replace the repaired main on a 40+ Bene with in mast. It was a 3 man job to get the main up that slot, 1 at the winch, 1 on port side of mast to start the tape in the feeder, a third on starboard to keep it in the slot where it narrowed. The 2 at the mast were working with fingertips thru the slots covered by 2 plates held by screws, none of which ended up overside against the odds.
I've been caught in a gale with a "gale sail" aboard and I didn't see any way to deploy the thing without undue risk.
BTW the sail had been repaired because of failure, the spectra loop that serves in place of a headboard broke while sail was out. Owners couldn't get it in or down. Per sailmaker, Spectra loop degrades due to UV.
No suggestions really except keep it simple, oh, and take your main down to clean and check it for repairs ;)
