2 monthes ago I adjusted my standing rigging and launched my 222 for the first time. The next time I went sailing I found that my standing rigging was loose. I retightened the rigging and wired the turnbuckles. Then again, I found my standing rigging slack.
I inspected my boat and found the area above the wooded compression post (held by 2 bolts) appeared to be pushing the deck upwards. In reading entries on the web page, it has dawned on me there must be a problem within the mast step and inter shell. The entries on repairing the cabin roof (mast step area) seem overwhelming. This seems to be something that I will not be able to complete with any type of professional results.....:cry::cry: Question: I assume there is wood between the two fiberglass areas. What is usually used in the support? How big of an area is strengthened (just under the mast or ???)? Would it be possible to replace the wooden support from the inside - removing the inter shell?
Any pros or cons???? Friends, I have to tell you I, already have way more money invested that I will ever get out of this boat. Taking it to a pro will be cost prohibitive. Love the boat, sad that my season seems to already be over.... Thanks for your help Eric
please note: there is a metal support from the wooden post and the mast base.
