Well, if the engine is running OK...... it should be good. However, despite the engine being a standard outboard powerhead, the parts are getting harder to find new. The lower unit parts are even harder to find from what I've heard. Just being realistic........ the Zephyr was a nice little inboard, but if you need parts......... are they still available?
Access to the engine is better on the 23 than the 25, from what I've heard... O'DAY added a hatch in the cockpit sole right over the engine (unlike the 25, where only access was by crawling into the starboard cockpit locker!) but, the engine and saildrive unit are mostly aluminum, so saltwater corrosion is not unheard of depending on care by previous owners, including type of antifoulant paint on the lower unit. I'm not sure, but think I might see an outboard bracket on this boat?? Might be a bad sign.
Still ,if you could get the boat for a reasonable price, and the engine runs...... it will be unique! Flip-side, is that if the engine isn't running....... a new total replacement inboard saildrive will cost upwards of $10K, a new outboard is around $3K but then you will need to remove the saildrive and patch the hole in the hull. If you are handy and careful, repairing the Zephyr may be possible........ just remember, it is a 2-stroke and will require mixing oil in the fuel. It is not that hard to find an older (1977-85) Johnson/Evinrude 35 parts motor on eBay or Craig's List.......... that would be a source for powerhead parts (other years, 1986-later may work too, but 1985 was last year the Zephyr was sold.....so that was why I used those years <1977-85> as matching production run of the Zephyr)
Finally, what condition is the rest of the boat/rig in? Why is she sitting with the trailer tongue so high in the air? If you do find the owner is willing to sell, it is worth having another experienced sailboat owner look at the boat with you....
