Never before seen phenomenon in South Pacific Ocean

[FONT=Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif]A yacht was traveling in the South Pacific when the crew came across a weird sight. [/FONT]

[FONT=Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif]Look at these photos and try to imagine the thrill of experiencing this phenomenon.[/FONT]

AN UNBELIEVABLE SIGHT, SO I HAD TO TAKE PICTURES BECAUSE NO ONE WOULD BELIEVE IT!




THE WAKE FROM MY YACHT.

WE STAYED ON THE EDGE OF THE WATER.




THEN THIS WAS SPOTTED:
ASH AND STEAM RISING FROM THE OCEAN.



And, while WE were watching,




A plume of black ash, a HUGE CLOUD.
COVERING EVERYTHING IN RED, EVEN THIS FAR
AWAY.



THEN THE SKY TURNS BLACK WITH ASH AND THE OCEAN TURNS GOLD FROM THE SUN'S REFLECTION.



OUT OF THE OCEAN, MOUNTAIN PEAKS ARISE !




MORE ERUPTIONS; ASH AND CLOUDS.



THEN MOUNTAIN PEAKS RISE HIGHER WITHIN MINUTES.



AND A BRAND-NEW ISLAND IS FORMED !



CREATION OF MOUNTAINS !



CAN YOU IMAGINE THE THRILL OF BEING THE FIRST AND ONLY PEOPLE TO WITNESS A NEW ISLAND BEING CREATED WHERE THERE WAS NOTHING THERE BEFORE?

That is spectacular. Can't imagine the anxiety of wondering if the keel is going into the bottom upon first seeing that.

I was thinking about being hit by flying boulders or having steam and bubble suddenly change the buoyancy of my boat...

I wonder if it sanded the paint off the hull where it rubbed as they motored through it?

Ah, yes; I see from the log that the hull was sanded from the pumice.

Snopes is blocked at work. Can't read up on it. I wonder what motoring through that would do to the engine?

The log said they had to clean the water inlet and a few other inlets. They said their motor quit, but they fixed it and drove out.

OK, here's the plan:

1. Claim the island.
2. Submit whatever form the UN requires to be declared an independent country.
3. Sell ambassadorships for our new island nation to anyone with the $5,000 application fee.
4. Ambassadors get to declare their homes as embassies of our nation, which means they no longer pay property taxes, and they can get those cool diplomatic plates for their cars that let them park anywhere with immunity.
5. Declare our boats as vessels in our new nation's navy, which means we can do awesome things like mount 50 cals on the bows and ride around without the appropropriate number of lifejackets, because the Coast Guard has no jurisdiction over the vessels of foreign navys.
