the oday 23 has a travler in the cockpit with teakwood under the travler anyone know who has this piece of wood also in the travler the pulley wheels have been eaten by something who would have these d r marine
my boat has about this same set up how do we send pictures here . this travler was added to this boatI don't think that your boat came with a traveler. It probably had the mainsheet coming off the end of the boom to a triangular plate on the backstay in the same way that my 86 O'Day 222 came through. You're probably going to have to get a piece of Teak and make a new beam.
I recently installed a Harken Traveler on my boat last summer and the track fit the beam that I had made years ago for a Nico Fico Traveler that I installed. I only had to bore some new holes for the track bolts.
I have only four long bolts that secure the traveler to the cockpit seats. The heads of these bolts are countersunk into the Teak in such a way that they don't turn, and the track is bolted to the top of the beam over the bolt heads to lock them in. This worked out great because I was able to change out the traveler at the club with the boat sitting in the water. The Harken is a much better traveler than the Nico Fico that I had on there.
thanks for the info ill just pull it up and mAke a new one its leaking into the cabin anyway the wood is a little rotten and leaks around the boltsI sold Joe the Harken Traveler (Hi Joe) which was on my 23' O'Day. I had a manufactured a Teak beam for the traveler, which would not fit on Joe's 222. Unfortunately I just cut it up for another project, it would have been perfect for your boat. It is not a big project to make a new one, the Teak is just a little pricey. I still have the wooden template I used when I made the beam, it this might help you, you can have it, as it is just taking up room in my shop. The original beam I used was made out of Ashe, and I just had a hard time keeping a finish on it.
