Wind Indicator Calibration-ST60+

Raymarine recently serviced the gauge and the vane at the masthead was checked and found to be working properly. Unfortunately, the indicator is still reading about 90 degrees off. I tried calibrating according to the manual with no luck. Any suggestions on what to try next?

I had a similar problem with my ST 60. After several attempts to recalibrate the unit, checking the sending unit etc. I traced the problem down to a loose wire connection at the base of the mast. It was not easily visible but after I removed and reconnected the wires the ST 60 worked fine.

GKuffner is correct. The sending unit can function with one of the wires not connected but it will not read correctly and will most likely be 90 degrees off.

Thank you for the replies- so the problem could be anywhere from the masthead to the gauge? Supposedly, the yard's man checked all that and found the gauge to be the problem- so it went back to Raymarine for service. They have looked at it 3 times since reinstalling and can't find the problem. Glad I didn't pay them yet...

I had a similar problem. Determined it was a loose connection at the base of the mast.

It's easy for the connections to be "bumped" if you are not careful when cleaning the boat - pretty sure the "help" I had caused the problem.
