Recently I changed the standard dual control to a single control lever. Everything went fine except I can no longer stop the engine. Previously the engine was stopped by pulling way back, with some effort, on the throttle. With a single control I can not pull back on the throttle without putting it in reverse. I purchased and installed a Lever Assembly Stop (Universal Part Number 300035). It does not seem to connect to anything. I am desparately looking for some knowledgeable input. Thank You.

engine stop

I have a smaller Universal diesel. I have never been able to shut it off without manually reaching into the motor box and pushing the lever with my thumb. I have meet two other O'day owners who said the same thing. One pointed out that if he modified the lever at the binnacle so that it was longer and more effective, the result might be that something downstream would break. Therefore I will just keep operating this way.

I noticed that you are located in Kingsland, Ga. I am located in Fernandina at Tiger Point and have a M40BC in a 37CC. They just installed the Admiral's panel for me so they may know something about your situation. The mechanic who did mine is Walt. Richard
