A friend of mine is wanting to install dinghy davits on a 2004 H36. Choice seems to be between Kato and Ocean brands. Anyone have any knowledge, pro's or con's concerning these.

I have Ocean davets on my 07 H-36 which I purchased from a 410 Hunter and Ocean was very helpful and I love my Ocean Davits.

I'll put in a third vote to look at Garhauer Marine. I installed them on my boat and they are great. And with the 6:1 blocks as standard, sure is easy to pull up our dink.
Did the Kato davits a number of years ago on my H356. :dance: Ask for Colleen and she will fix you up.

If you're looking for both solar support and davits this may interest you. These pictures come from the S/V Groovy a Hunter 44. I'm scaling the plans back for my 326 and will accommodate 3 120W solar panels. I like the fact the davit arms retract when you're not using them and the dinghy is higher up.

Ocean Davits
I think the Ocean Davits are very heavy duty and they come in different setups for different boats and if you wanted to add solar panels they are very strong and heavy duty and easily swing in if need to and very install on my H-36.
Jim seamans has the install on the 356 from start to finish and my Ocean Davits came with a 2 bar support from each davit and no other supports needed to keep them from swinging side to side which is great.
I think they are all great and Ocean was great to help me even that I got them used from another Hunter owner who added one of those big stern arch,I do keep my outboard 8HP and aluminum floor 9'6'' on the davits 24/7.
And you don't have to take the propane locker apart on the H-36 like needs to be done on the 356.
