Can anyone tell me where I can find wrecking/salvage yards for sailboats. I am looking for the fiberglass main sliding hatch cover for the companionway on a 1984 O'Day 222. DR Marine, who bought the molds for O'Day boat's fiberglass parts lost the mold. I prefer to keep the original fiberglass, but if that is not possible, I will need a good design for a main sliding hatch cover. I lost the original cover so cannot use it as a mold.
Thanks,
lil-tipsy

Not trying to be funny here but I think New Jersy and New York would still be full of wrecks now.

I did a google search and see youve been looking for several years. They only made about 175 of these, that really adds to the difficulty.

I did notice DR has a hatch for an oday 25. I dont know how different it is, but it might be possible to reconfigure it to fit your boat. Like if you narrowed it, you could glass the two halves together, or shorten it the same way. Alternatively you could make one out of wood, or make a mold to glass up a new one.

Thanks for the suggestion. I have talked to DR Marine on several occasions, who bought all the molds from O'Day, but they lost this particular mold. They did not think that any other cover would work but I had not considered cutting and glassing a larger cover.
