Been there..Done that....

At least in my case, the insurance survey was just a formality to make sure I wasn't trying to scam them. I suggest that you try to identify ALL electronics that are not working, as well as damage at/near the strike area. This includes the engine alternator, instrument panel for the engine, as well as electronics powered from shore power such as battery charger, water heater, etc.. The haulout will identify any problem areas where the bolt exited. When my boat was hit, ALL electronics were fried except the starter motor on the engine. The good news was that it was paid for. Replacing electronics was pretty much straight forward...the cosmetics from heat damage was not but that reflects more on the capabilities of the person effecting the repairs..

Also check all electrical conduits..

..including those running behind headliners, etc. I know a sailbout with same occurance ; all electrical wires were damaged as well.

Also inspect the hull

Lightening can affect the integrity of the hull. Sometimes its obvious like a blow out, in other cases people have reporter numerous pinholes.

Other Things to Check

You should also check all water pipes and the standing rigging. Assuming that the lightning came through the mast. The heat from the strike will also travel down the mast and the standing rigging. The heat will definately weaken the rigging and should be replaced. I had a fire in my boat which eminated from the battery charger and flowed into electrical wires. Were the wire was next to water piping the piping melted and needed to be replaced. We found that where the electrical wire was in a "straight run" in some cases the damage was not apparent. Where the wire took a bend there was melting of insulation requiring replacement. Be real particular where the individual component could be weaken and not show apparent damage. Good luck with the clean-up.
