I have intermittent problems with unfurling the mainsail which gets jammed in the mast slot and the furling line sometimes jumps grooves in the furling drum.Anyone else with similar problems and how they might be corrected? Ted Kurczynski email tkurczynski@chmca.org

Battens or no battens?

If you have battens in it, it could make things tricky. Have you tried furling and unfurling the sail so it makes a straight shot towards the end of the boom and not bending as it comes out of the mast slot?

H376 Furling Main

I also had problems both unfurling and furling the main. I switched to smaller diameter high strength lines. I can now unfurl without using the winch. Furling does require the winch, but it is much easier. You have to keep tension on the outhaul to avoid jumping the line track. Also, ease the mainsheet in both operations.
