Pace Update

Just out of curiosity I checked on were in fact Pace Picante Sauce is made. The Jar now sports a San Antonio (were folks know what picante sauce is supposed to taste like) PO box address. They are owned by Campbell's Soup thus the New Jersey address on the jar before. It is made in one of two places Paris, Texas or Sacramento, California. I know all y'all were dying to know.

Drinks, Drinks & More Drinks

Finding out that I was diabetic was a shock to my system. After getting over the shock that I had to give up my favorite food, sugar, I have found many foods can easily be sweetened with products other than sugar and still have a great taste. My favorite drink is Crystal Light and Malibu Rum. The tropical flavors of Crystal Light are my favorites. You can still get hammered on a drink like that, not that I ever tried. Hope that my Crystal Light and Mailbu will be a good addition to the selection.

Ummm Rum

Seems like sailing and Rum just go together. I was never much of a rum drinker until I participated in the Manasquan Tri Sail regatta about 10 years ago. One of the highlights is the Saturday night Rum party, dinner and awards presentation. Mount Gay is one of the sponsors so, it was their product that was being ladled out to thirsty sailors. The drink is very simple, and I am not even sure if it has a name. Ice, rum, oj, splash of cranberry, and a lime. Use your own tastes to determine amounts. It is my favorite summer and after sailing drink. I really stress the "after sailing". Hope you enjoy it. Jack Flannery S/V Ms Pelican O'day 222 Highlands NJ

A well stocked bar.

Chinzano & 7up/sprite over ice. Being wine based it's not as potent as other liquor based drinks. Extremely refreshing. Rum is our #1 spirit on board. Gin & Tonic's are nice for sunset. Campari & soda. Vodka for the bloody marys (and weird non-rum drinking guests). Top quality tequila (several sipping varieties) plus some Jose Cuevo gold for margaritas. Drambui, Brandy & other post dinner drinks. Selection of wines - mostly reds, but a chardonay is nice. All the above is fine, but having good beer on board is a must, and that's Guiness. You will never see any bud products on our boat. Someone tried once and we made them put it back in the car! The reason they have to serve budweiser cold is so that it can be distinguished from urine. Be safe - consume responsibly.

Couldn't have said it better meself, Scott

No bud onboard. Guiness is #1, but our native Shiner Bock is a very close second and was even used to wash the champagne off the bow during a recent ceremony. (Freshwater gods from Texas ain't too kindly to that there bubbly sensation. Jus' gib'em a good ol' beer, awrite?!)

Made It On The Menu

Not long ago we took our new 460 (Blacksheep) out on it's maiden voyage. We took a long the owners of an Atlanta bar (The Brewhouse Cafe, in Little Five Points. Long story made longer... We all started drinking a new combination, and really enjoyed it. Since the drink did not have a name (that we knew of) we called it the Black Sheep (which is especialy funny since it is made with Lamb's Navy Rum). My friends liked the drink so much that they added it to the bar menu. The recipe is below. Try it on your boat, enjoy it if you come to visit my boat, or ask for it if you visit the bar in Atlanta!! BlackSheep Start with a tall glass filled with ice Fill 2/3 full of cranberry juice Most of the other third with Lamb's Navy Rum Top with a healthy spash of orange juice and stir
