I have been getting water in the boat from a leak. I thought that it might be the ballast tank. Water was getting in all the under seat storage areas on both side of the boat, including the V berth and under the sink in the head. The last lake trip I brought along a bottle of red food dye to pore in the ballast tank. If the water that leaked out was red, well it had to come from the ballast tank. Well the water in the storage areas was not red on the next trip. That was good because I had no idea how I was going to repair a leaking ballast tank. But where was this water coming from? I had double check the speedo and depth things under the back berth. Well here we are at anchor in the middle of a heated Monopoly game (everyone is seating around the table) and I look back and water is running out from under the back berth pad!!!!! Hit the bilge pump and it starts pumping out the water. All the storage areas have about 8 inches of water in them. After an hour of pumping the water out of bilge and the storage areas the boat was dry again and no more water is coming in. The wife and kids move from the cockpit to the bow (away from dad that is screaming four letter words as he is bearded in the bilge looking for the leak that stooped) When they moved to the bow I could hear water running. Poped the top off the trunk under the table (the one for the swing keel) and there is water poring in from under the big bolt behind the compression post. Well we spent the next two days in the back of the boat and did not have anymore water come in the boat. Now that I found the leak how do I fix it? I know the bolt just need to be sealed with silicone but how do I get to the nut between the boat and the swing keel? Has anyone had this same leak? Thanks Dale

Bolt Holds on the Centerboard Bracket

If it is on the trailer you should be able to loosen the bolt NOT REMOVE just loosen aply the caulk of your choice and retighten. If you remove the bolt yoou may have a hard time lining it up again not a huge problem but why chance it?

Where do You Sail?

I Looked on the map to find Seminole and was surprised. You must have the largest sailboat for a hundred miles.
