I seem to encounter a situation with regard to throttling forward in gear. It seems that I really need to throttle up before the boat goes into gear. I hate it, because every time I hear a slight "boom" when she goes into gear. Yes, I have checked and replaced the trans fluid but to no avail. This may not even be a problem, just wondering if anyone else has run into this. PS: no problems when throttling in reverse.

Try adjusting the linkage

You may have done this already, but have you tried adjusting the shift/throttle linkage? The transmisson should engage just prior to the engine throttling up. The boom is from the clutch engaging at the higher rpms.
