Do any one know if mizzen mast could steeped on the rudder. ie the mast set on the rudder, on a small sloop?

Thank you, blessings, 'J' :)

Are you trying to add a mizzen to an existing sloop? I guess I don't understand the question. Traditionally yawls are set aft of the rudder post and ketches are set before the rudder post.

Yes would like to add a small mizzen mast and sail on the rudder. It is a Potter 19. It looks like the easiest way without cutting into the hull it's self. I want to think that I have seen some small boats with a mizzen mast near or on the rudder? I like the looks and the way a yawl functions.
Thanks for your input, blessings, 'J'ene

There's more to this than just adding a mast and sail!
That's why naval architects earn good money!

On a boat this size, one is not dealing with the stresses of a larger boat. I think one could do this with a bit of research and planning. I met a guy who made his 24 footer into a yawl. It was the same boat as the one I had at that time and it beat me in light air on a reach. He is not sailing this boat around the world.

When you say "on" the rudder post i am confused about that. Please clarify.

If the mizzen produces too much weather helm he can just ease the sheet. Hell, give it a shot. What is more enjoyable than taking on a boat project?

With an ensign that big, you probably are.

I bet you could get a boost in light air on a reach.
