I recently bought a 1977 Cat 30 with a Yanmar YSV12 engine. While on a hi angle heel, a few drops of crankcase oil spilled out of the engine, into the bilge. Upon inspection, I found what looks like the dip stick tube but no dip stick. there also appears to be an alternate dip stick that is screwed into the engine housing in front of the engine. Any ideas about the "dip stick tube" ? Thanks

Yanmar 1cyl. oil dip stick

This engine has a screw-on dipstick at the front of the engine for checking oil level. The tube on the right side of the engine is to suck out the oil for oil change. There should be a rubber cap on the top. This tube comes from the extreme bottom of the engine sump and will extract more oil at oil change time than if you use the opening at the front. Henry
