filled with 3L of oil per manual. The Manual also says to fill to upper mark on dipstick though the 3L only makes it half up to the upper mark. I don't to overfill. Should I just keep an eye on it..... add a little after running a bit.

Just changed oil on my YM30 a few weeks ago. Took about 3.5 quarts and I didn't change the filter (only about 15 hours since previous filter change). As long as you are inbetween the marks on the dip stick you should be OK; however, I would add another 8 oz to get the oil level further up the stick. Be sure to let motor sit for 10-15 minutes to ensure that all of the oil has migrated into the oil pan before adding oil.

Yes I replaced oil filter too. Going back today to check level and can top off a bit if needed

Thanks for the suggestions

Don't overfill it. Assuming that the engine sits on a bit of a fore aft angle, the dipstick can read a bit low. Overfilling could cause issues with foaming as the crankshaft churns up the oil in the pan.
