Hopeing someone can help. I'm reviving a neglected Oday 26, 1984 with a yanmar 1gm diesel. Finally got the engine running after rebuilding the fuel injection pump. My problem/dilemma is the throttle control lever seems to have no effect on the engine speed. Once started, the engine runs "full steam ahead" come hell or high water!!! The only way I can control engine speed is by playing with the engine stop cable...ie partial stop slows engine down, full run = top speed, full stop = , well you get the idea. Anyone out there have any thoughts/ideas? I tried cable adjustment, etc, no good. It seems the "return spring" action takes engine to high speed instead of idle. I know the fuel metering rack is installed correctly because the engine cutoff cable works as expected. If all else fails, I plan to use the cutout lever/cable as my speed control and the speed control as a transmission selector only. Thanks in advance for any ideas. Happy sails, Mark
