I have a 1980 - 30' Hunter wuith replacement Yanmar Engine (low hours). The engine has been sitting idle the last 3 months and am now unable to even turn-over. Good Battery Charge yet starter does not even click. Any suggestions or checklist to troubleshoot?

First thing to check is your connections.

Remove the connections and clean them with a wire brush and even chemials if you have them. Be sure you check the connection on your battery selector switch too.

Before trying starter again suggest verifying the engine is not seized.
Put a wrench on the nut on the crankshaft pulley and gently turn the engine over a few times.
If free then try starter.
Reason - If, for any reason, water has seeped back into the exhaust manifold it can cause the piston rings to rust to cylinder walls.

He should still get a click even if the engine is seized.
99.44% of all electrical problems on boats are correded connections.
Try shorting between the "S" terminal (small wire) and the high amp wire from the batteries/alternator with a screwdriver. Yes there will be sparks and the engine will shake when you do. if that works you have the very common starter circuit problem most of us have had to deal with. Fix by cleaning the connections (all 12 of them) between the battery to the starter solenoid and back to the battery.

On the old 2QMxx engines it could be the hard to find fuse. Trying to remember, somewhere on the port side, toward the back. It might be on the flywheel housing.
