Yanmar-SB8 Trsansmission Fluid Type?

Can anyone tell me if the transmission on my Yanmar SB8, takes a different oil than the engine. I have several Yanmar books and service manuals, and they all refer to the transmission fluid as "LO", the same way they refer to the engine oil. Now 26 years in the automotive repair business tells me that the transmission should have a different type of fluid in it than motor oil. Any help would be appreciated. John Giaccio

John Ihave a 77 YSB12 and it uses the same oil in the engine as the trans. I use (shell) rotella 30. Mike (co1401@aol.com)
