Yanmar oil drain

We have a 1985 H34 with a 3 cylinder Yanmar. There doesn't seem to be any place to drain the oil, forcing one to pump the oil out through the very small dipstick tube.I wish the oil pan had a drain line and end-plug leading forward so that we could simply drain the oil into a shallow container. If I fashion something myself, do I have to drop the oil pan? Does anyone sell a kit?

No Drain, pump it out

You've got it right, there is no drain. It is too dangerous, risking losing oil into the sump and potentially overboard, so you won't find a drain plug. It really is easy to pump it out through the dipstick tube. 2 tricks: 1) run the engine first, warming up the oil and 2) make sure you open the oil fill cap, so that are not trying to suck the oil out against a vacuum created by the pump. (figured this out after a frustrating attempt...).I think you'll find that this is really easier than having to maneuver a pan underneath, and then get it out without spilling the old oil. A little hand pump should be about $10.00.
