I have a 'stop' and 'off' switch to cut off the fuel in a Yanmar 2GM diesel. The 'stop' switch has failed to work. How do I determine if it is the switch or where the problem is? I need to go below and manually stop the fuel pressing the plunger on the solenoid. I had the start button on this same panel fail to the tune of $147 just for the replacement rocker switch. Is the Yanmar type 2 panel just junk?

no they are not really junk but the have a short service life due to the fact that it gets exposed to the elements unmercifully.......as for the solenoid check and see if it is fuse some where in the system feeding the power wire to the solenoid ...i put one on my 2gm and the solenoid came with 3 wires ....ground....holding circuit wire...... a pull circuit wire...the drw is very high amperage wise on the pull wire but when you let off the stop button the holding wire stays active till your engine stops and the key switch is turned to off...and it will not work if you have turned off the key switch before you push the stop button ...granted it is wired correctly...it should have at least a # 10 wire feeding the solenoid with a 30 amp fuse in the run close to the solenoid .....
