I am trying to replace the 1 7/8" exhaust hose on my 2gm20F but cannot seem to get it over the exhaust elbow fitting. I have heated and greased it and struggled with it over the week end.
Is there some trick to stretching the hose enough to get it over the fitting?

you need a 2 inch hose not 1 and 7/8

I was going to say if it does not fit you have the wrong size hose. Were there any markings on the removed hose indicating the size. I have in the past encountered the need for a hose of different sizes at each end and would likely not have known had I not happened to inspect the old hose.

The original hose was clearly marked 1 7/8" and the distal end fits the muffler just fine. Really don't want to remove the elbow to make it easier to fit the hose.

i don't think you are going to put a 1- 7/8 inch hose on a 2"fitting with any great success...you are going to have to find an adaptor that will take a 1 7/8" hose on one end and a 2" on the other end.....and also purchase a section of 2" hose and 4 more hose clamps granted you have enough room in the run to do it at all ....other solution is new 2" hose and a muffler that has 2" exhaust in and a 1- 7/8 out

Woodster; Do you have info that the 2GM20F has a 2" outlet at the elbow? I did not measure the outlet but I took a 1 7/8" hose off the same fitting.
