My boat has a Yanmar 1GM10 single cylinder diesel with the standard Yanmar control panel, including tach and fuel gauge and the usual warning lights. The problem is that the fuel gauge goes to hard "empty" when I turn the key on although the fuel tank is full, and the tach responds very slowly to changes in engine RPM. The tach takes 15-20 seconds to settle on a new indication when the engine RPM changes, but otherwise seems to be OK. This behavior began last weekend. One symptom that might be useful is that the tach takes a long time to settle to "0" RPM even after the engine has stopped. The warning buzzer and the idiot lights are working correctly. Has anyone seen this problem before, or does anyone have a suggestion about how to diagnose or fix this problem? Thanks.
