Yanmar America has issued a service advisory for 3GM30 series engines. The advisory is related to hard starting on some of these engines. Marine Diesel Direct has posted the advisory on its Web site at http://www.marinedieseldirect.com . If you own a 3GM30 series engine you should review this information to see if your specific engine is covered by the advisory. Owners will also find a summary of the problem and the Yanmar recommended fix. As always, we would be happy to answer any questions related to this advisory and we can also get you the parts needed to fix the problem.

Engine Serial Numbers?

Thanks for the tip! Do you know what range of engine numbers are affected? Or do I need to check all of the individual part numbers against the ones on the www.marinedieseldirect.com website?

Anyone with questions about the 3GM30 series service advisory should call Mack Boring at 908-964-0700 ext. 259. Do NOT call Hunter Marine as they will simply refer you to Mack Boring and/or your local authorized Yanmar sales and service center. No serial numbers

We have made the request of Yanmar but so far they have not given us the range of serial numbers involved. A quick look at your engine will give you the info that you need. If there is a flexible hose from the fuel filter to the HP pump, you are due for a change. This can be corroborated by finding a T in the lines at the rear of the engine.
