Has anyone out there had their alternator converted from a "N" type to a "P" type to facilitate the use of a charge regulator. My friend has purchased a charging regulator from West Marine that specifically states in their catalog that Yanmar (Hitachi?) regulators need to be converted before usung this particular regulator. Unfortunatelay I don't have the brand or madel in front of me as I write this but if any of yo have done this ZI am sure you knoe exactly what I am asking. If you do can you tell me what to do so I can help my friend. He is retired, had three heart attacks and I am his boat helper, sailor etc. I get to do a lot of sailing with him as a result.
