Yanmar 3QM30 crankshaft

We meet these great folks this summer on vacation. Their engine died on them just west of Montreal and they made it home to Nova Scotia using a 10hp outboard hung off the transom of their Hughes 35.

That are now in the process of rebuilding their Yanmar 3QM30 and are having a tough time finding a crankshaft or an engine for parts. I would be grateful for any help in trying to locate the shaft or a parts engine.

Try Al Holzer at Schooner Bay Imported Motors, in Bayfield , WI. He rebuilds Yanmar engines in his shop and I bought a 3GM30F some years ago from him. He might have the crankshaft or even a complete engine and he would possibly buy the old engine. Email is holzralf@yahoo.com and phone is 715 779 3266. I'm not all that knowledgeable of engines but I do know crankshafts can be reconditioned and reground. Also I found this yanmar pdf, Nova Scotia is listed too. http://mastry.com/mec/dealer/DealerDistributorBook_AUG08.pdf
